CHEST

Dumbbell Squeeze Press

BeginnerDumbbell

A chest press where much of the tension comes from squeezing two dumbbells together rather than from the weight alone. That constant inward pressure keeps the chest working through the entire rep, and the neutral hand position eases the load on the shoulders to better isolate the pecs.

How to do it

  1. 1

Lie back on a flat bench holding two dumbbells with palms facing each other, resting them on your chest.

  2. 2

Press the dumbbells firmly together and extend your arms straight up over your chest.

  3. 3

Keep squeezing them together as you lower back to the start.

  4. 4

Focus on the inward squeeze rather than the weight itself.

  5. 5

Repeat for your target reps, keeping the dumbbells pressed together throughout.
