CHEST
Alternating Medicine Ball Push Up
This push-up variation puts one hand on a medicine ball, tipping most of your weight onto the other side. Alternating the ball between hands helps expose and correct side-to-side strength differences while your core works overtime to keep you stable. It hits the chest, shoulders, and triceps like a standard push-up but with a bigger balance demand.
How to do it
- 1
Set up in a push-up position with hands slightly wider than your shoulders and one palm resting on top of a medicine ball.
- 2
Raise your knees and hold a straight line from heels to shoulders throughout.
- 3
Bend your elbows to lower your chest, keeping the elbows about 45 degrees from your body.
- 4
Press back up once your chest is just above the floor, then roll the ball across to the other hand.
- 5
Keep your shoulders and hips level and resist twisting as you switch sides, then repeat for your reps.
