CHEST

Cable Crossover Incline Bench Fly

IntermediateCable

An isolation fly done on an incline bench between two cable stacks, aimed squarely at the chest with the shoulders assisting for stability. Cables keep steady tension across the whole arc, unlike dumbbells that go slack at the top, and the incline shifts the emphasis toward the upper chest. You also get to fine-tune the exact line of pull.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set an incline bench between two low cable pulleys and sit back with a handle in each hand.

  2. 2

Keep your head, shoulders, and hips pressed into the bench.

  3. 3

With a soft bend held in your elbows, squeeze your chest to draw both handles up and inward along a wide arc.

  4. 4

Pause briefly at the top where the handles meet, keeping the chest tight.

  5. 5

Let the handles travel back out and down slowly, resisting the pull the whole way.

  6. 6

Keep the resistance light and the tempo slow so your chest, not momentum, does the work.
