CALVES
Standing Dumbbell Calf Raise
A weighted standing calf raise holding a dumbbell in each hand, targeting the calves. Standing on a raised edge lets your heels drop below the step for a fuller stretch, and the dumbbells add resistance well beyond bodyweight. Good for building calf size and strength.
How to do it
- 1
Hold a dumbbell in each hand and stand with the balls of your feet on a raised edge like a plate, legs straight with a soft knee bend.
- 2
Let your calves relax so your heels drop below the edge toward the floor.
- 3
Push through the balls of your feet to raise your heels as high as you can.
- 4
Hold and squeeze at the top for a moment.
- 5
Lower your heels slowly back down below the edge, keeping tension in your calves, and repeat.
