A machine variation of the calf raise done on the leg press. The machine stabilizes the load and gives you precise control over the weight, making it an effective way to build calf strength and size.
How to do it
- 1
Sit in the leg press with your shoulders and hips against the back pad, feet hip width on the platform, forefeet on the edge and heels hanging off.

Grip the handles and brace your core so your back and shoulders stay against the pad.
- 3
Leave the safety bars set as you press the platform up by extending your ankles.
- 4
At full extension, lower the platform slowly back toward the safety bars.
