BICEPS
Behind the Back Cable Bicep Curl
This cable curl positions the resistance behind your body, which keeps your biceps under load through a strong stretch and a hard peak contraction. That behind-the-back angle isn't possible with free weights and gives the biceps a slightly different stimulus, one that many lifters use to chase extra fullness and detail.
How to do it
- 1
Set the pulley low, stand facing away from the machine in a staggered stance, and grip the handle in one hand.
- 2
Let your working arm hang behind you with your palm facing the floor.
- 3
Curl your arm forward by contracting the biceps while keeping your elbow locked behind your torso.
- 4
Squeeze and hold briefly at the top of the curl.
- 5
Lower the handle back down under control, keeping tension on the biceps, then switch arms.
