TRICEPS
Downward Dog Push Up
A flowing push-up that borrows from yoga, moving between a downward dog and an upward dog position. Along with the chest, shoulders, and triceps of a normal push-up, it puts extra work on the shoulders and stretches the core and hamstrings, blending strength with mobility.
How to do it
- 1
Start with your hands under your shoulders and hips pushed back into an inverted V, or downward dog.
- 2
Bend your elbows and sweep your hips forward, dipping your chest down between your hands.
- 3
Continue the motion, letting your hips lower toward the floor as you straighten your arms into upward dog.
- 4
Reverse back through the dip to return to the downward dog start.
- 5
Repeat for your target number of reps, keeping the movement smooth.
