Hammerstrength Shrug

A machine shrug that isolates the traps while the fixed handle path keeps the weight moving in a straight line. That stability lets you push harder or focus on clean form without worrying about balancing the load.

How to do it

    Stand between the handles of the shrug machine set to about knee height.

  2. 2

    Brace your core, hinge your hips back, and grip the handles with palms facing in.

  3. 3

    Stand up straight, lifting the handles with your arms extended.

  4. 4

    With chest up, shoulders back, and a slight elbow bend, raise your shoulders toward your ears.

  5. 5

    Lower the handles back down under control.
