QUADS
PVC Overhead Squat
The PVC overhead squat uses a light pipe instead of a loaded bar, making it ideal for grooving the overhead squat pattern and building shoulder mobility without added weight. It trains the quads while teaching the balance and upper body position needed to progress to heavier overhead squats.
How to do it
- 1
Stand with a comfortably wide stance and toes turned out slightly.
- 2
Grip the PVC pipe with a wide grip and press it overhead with locked arms.
- 3
Brace your core and begin the squat by pushing your hips back and bending your knees.
- 4
Descend while keeping the pipe centered over you and your arms vertical, engaging the upper back.
- 5
Keep your chest up and eyes forward as you reach a full squat.
- 6
Extend your knees and drive your hips forward to return to standing.
