QUADS
Leg Press
A machine press that mainly builds the quads, close to a squat but with your back fully supported. That support removes the balance demand and lets you focus purely on driving the platform, which loads the quads heavily. An excellent choice for adding leg size and strength safely.
How to do it
- 1
Sit in the machine with your shoulders and hips against the back pad and feet on the platform, shoulder-width and turned out slightly.
- 2
Press the platform up, spreading the load across your feet, and release the safety catches.
- 3
Grip the handles and brace your core so your lower back and shoulders stay against the pad.
- 4
Lower the platform, letting your knees track out over your second toes with heels planted.
- 5
Descend until just before your lower back would lift off the pad, then press back up and repeat.
