Cable Knee Drive
A functional cable exercise with the strap around your ankle, driving the knee up toward the chest against resistance. It loads the hip flexors and forces the core to work hard for balance, mirroring the mechanics of sprinting and jumping. Athletes chasing more explosive speed and power tend to get a lot out of it.
How to do it
- 1
Drop the pulley to its lowest setting and attach the cable to one ankle.
- 2
Step forward until the cable is taut, facing away from the machine in a light staggered stance.
- 3
Line the pulley up directly behind the cabled ankle, not off to a side.
- 4
Brace your core, keep your spine tall, and look straight ahead.
- 5
Drive the cabled knee up and forward as far as you can, toes pulled up, swinging the same-side arm back like a running stride.
- 6
Lower the foot back down slowly against the cable, finish your reps, then switch legs.
