Barbell Step Up
A loaded step-up with the barbell across your back, driving up onto a box one leg at a time. It builds the quads, glutes, and hamstrings while demanding balance and coordination, and the bar ramps up the strength challenge.
How to do it
- 1
Set the bar just below shoulder height and stand with your back to it.
- 2
Duck under to rack it on your upper back, lift it off, and step forward to stand a few inches in front of a plyo box.
- 3
Shift your weight to one leg and lift the other foot onto the box.
- 4
Keeping your torso upright, push through the box leg to bring your trailing foot up beside it.
- 5
Reverse the steps to lower back to the floor, then repeat.
