LOWER BACK

Supine Back Stretch

BeginnerBodyweight

The supine back stretch is a gentle rotational stretch done lying on your back. Guiding one bent leg across your body eases tension through the lower back and improves spinal mobility. It works well as a cool-down or recovery movement.

How to do it

  1. 1

Lie on your back with legs extended and arms out to the sides, palms down.

  2. 2

Bend one knee and let that leg fall across your body toward the opposite side.

  3. 3

Lower the knee toward the floor until you feel a comfortable stretch in the lower back.

  4. 4

Keep your shoulders anchored to the ground as you rotate.

  5. 5

Hold for 15 to 30 seconds, then return and repeat on the other side.
