Lateral Box Jump

An explosive jump where you drive sideways up onto a box. It builds lateral power and athleticism through the glutes, quads, and calves, while also training coordination and balance as you control the sideways landing.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Stand a few inches to the side of the box, feet about hip width apart.

  2. 2

    Hinge at your hips and swing your arms back, keeping your torso rigid and heels planted.

  3. 3

    At the bottom of the hinge, explode up by extending your hips and knees and swinging your arms forward.

  4. 4

    Push harder off your outside foot to drive laterally onto the box.

  5. 5

    Land softly on top, absorbing through your hips and knees.

  6. 6

    Step or jump back down to the start and repeat.
