Lateral Bound

An explosive plyometric that has you bound side to side, driving off one leg and landing on the other. It develops lateral power, single-leg strength, and balance, all of which carry over to quick, athletic direction changes.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Start in a quarter-squat with feet together and elbows bent at 90 degrees.

  2. 2

    Shift your weight onto your right leg, driving your left elbow forward and right elbow back.

  3. 3

    Explosively extend the right hip and knee to bound to the left, switching your arm swing.

  4. 4

    Land on the ball of your left foot, softening the knee and hip to absorb the landing.

  5. 5

    Immediately spring back to the right side and repeat.
