PVC Shoulder Flexion

BeginnerBodyweight

Using a PVC pipe as an anchor, this stretch loads the shoulders through flexion while you hinge at the hips. It gives you a controlled way to open up the joint and is handy for warming up or restoring range after tight sessions.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand with feet slightly wider than shoulder width and knees a little bent.

  2. 2

Stand one end of a PVC pipe on the floor about an arm's length in front of you.

  3. 3

Grip the top of the pipe with both hands above waist height.

  4. 4

Holding your grip steady, push your hips back into a hip hinge.

  5. 5

Keep your arms straight, spread your shoulders open, and draw your shoulder blades back.

  6. 6

You should feel the stretch across your shoulders.
