Kettlebell Upright Row

BeginnerKettlebell

The Kettlebell Upright Row works the shoulders and traps by drawing the bell vertically up along your torso. Holding a single kettlebell lets you keep the weight centered and drive your elbows high. It's a straightforward way to add pulling volume for the shoulders.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and grip the kettlebell handle with both hands, overhand.

  2. 2

Let the bell hang in front of you with arms extended.

  3. 3

Pull your elbows up and out, keeping the bell close to your body, until the handle reaches your upper chest.

  4. 4

Keep your elbows around shoulder level at the top rather than shrugging them as high as possible.

  5. 5

Lower the bell back down under control to the starting position.
