SHOULDERS
Front Rack Stretch
The Front Rack Stretch uses a barbell held at the shoulders to loosen up the shoulders and triceps, one side at a time. Driving each elbow up under the bar opens the joint and improves your ability to hold a clean front rack position. It's a handy prep for cleans, front squats, and overhead work.
How to do it
- 1
Stand tall holding a barbell across your shoulders with an overhand grip just outside shoulder-width.
- 2
Press one elbow upward while pushing the bar into that shoulder.
- 3
Let the stretch build across the back of that arm and the shoulder.
- 4
Ease back to the starting position under control.
- 5
Repeat on the other side, alternating for the set duration.
