SHOULDERS
Dumbbell Shoulder Press
A compound overhead press built around the shoulders. Because dumbbells move independently, they demand more from the small stabilizing muscles and expose any strength gap between your left and right sides. A staple for building pressing strength and balanced shoulders.
How to do it
- 1
Sit on a bench with your back straight, holding a dumbbell just outside each shoulder, palms facing forward and elbows bent at your sides.
- 2
Press through your palms to extend your arms overhead, keeping your forearms vertical.
- 3
At full extension the dumbbells should line up roughly over your ears.
- 4
Lower them under control back to shoulder height and repeat.
