HAMSTRINGS

Double Dumbbell Hang Snatch

IntermediateDumbbell

A two-dumbbell version of the hang snatch that fires up the shoulders, back, and legs with explosive hip drive. Using a pair of dumbbells demands extra coordination and balance, making it a solid pick for building usable, athletic strength.

How to do it

  1. 1

Hold a dumbbell in each hand and stand with feet just wider than shoulder-width.

  2. 2

Let the dumbbells hang in front of your thighs, palms facing you, chest up and core braced.

  3. 3

Hinge back and bend your knees to lower the weights, keeping your elbows outside your knees at the bottom.

  4. 4

In one smooth burst, extend your legs, drive your hips through, and rise onto your toes.

  5. 5

Pull with your back and shoulders to swing both dumbbells overhead, dipping slightly under them as they lock out above and just behind your head.

  6. 6

Steady the top for a beat, then lower back to the start.
