ABS

Toes to Bar

IntermediateBodyweight

A demanding hanging move where you raise your toes to meet the pull-up bar. It calls on the abs, hip flexors, and shoulders, plus a good deal of flexibility. A benchmark for core strength and a fixture in gymnastics and functional training.

How to do it

  1. 1

Grip the bar with palms facing away and hang at full stretch.

  2. 2

Brace your core by breathing into your belly to stop yourself from swinging.

  3. 3

Bend at the hips to about 90 degrees, letting the knees stay slightly bent.

  4. 4

From there, crunch the abs to lift your pelvis and drive your feet up toward the bar.

  5. 5

Once your feet reach the bar, keep the torso tight and lower back to the hang.
