ABS
Russian Twist
A rotational core exercise aimed mainly at the obliques. By lifting your feet, bracing your core, and twisting from side to side, you load the muscles along your waist and build rotational strength and control.
How to do it
- 1
Sit upright with knees bent and feet lifted, hooked under a stable object if needed.
- 2
Hold a weight or clasp your hands together in front of your chest, elbows slightly bent.
- 3
Lean back so your torso is at about 45 degrees to the floor.
- 4
Rotate your shoulders to the right, keeping your hands centered on your chest, until you tap the floor beside you.
- 5
Twist across to the left and tap down on that side.
- 6
Keep the motion controlled and driven by your core, not your arms, as you alternate.
