Loop Band Side Plank Row

BeginnerResistance band

This move stacks a banded row onto a side plank, so the obliques hold you up while your back and shoulder pull against resistance. It's an efficient combo that trains lateral core stability and upper-back strength at once. Expect a real challenge to your balance.

How to do it

  1. 1

Lie on your side and anchor a loop band at about your top shoulder's height, facing the anchor.

  2. 2

Grip the band with your top hand and set your distance for tension.

  3. 3

Press your bottom forearm into the floor and lift your hips into a side plank.

  4. 4

Keep your core engaged and body in a straight line.

  5. 5

Pull your elbow back to your side, driving through your back and rear shoulder.

  6. 6

Pause, lower with control, finish your reps, then switch sides.
