ABS
Leg Raise
A basic bodyweight core move where you lift and lower your legs while lying down. The abs do plenty of work raising the legs, but the real payoff comes from resisting gravity on the way down. Keep the lower back pinned to the floor to keep the tension where it belongs.
How to do it
- 1
Lie on your back with legs extended and arms resting at your sides, palms down.
- 2
Tuck your hips slightly so your lower back presses flat into the floor.
- 3
Breathe into your belly and brace your abs to keep the lower back down.
- 4
With a slight bend in the knees and ankles flexed, raise your legs until they're vertical.
- 5
Lower them slowly back to the start, keeping your core engaged the whole time, including between reps.
