ABS

Decline Sit Up

IntermediateBodyweight

A sit-up performed on a decline bench, which keeps more tension on the abs at the top than a floor sit-up. The angle adds resistance and lengthens the range, making it a solid way to build core strength beyond the basic version.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set the decline bench to your chosen angle and hook your legs in securely, hands behind your head.

  2. 2

Brace your core and raise your torso off the bench, keeping your back straight, exhaling as you rise.

  3. 3

Pause at the top before you lose tension in your abs.

  4. 4

Lower yourself back down slowly, staying braced the whole way.

  5. 5

Keep your chest up and shoulders back throughout, feeling the work in your abs.
