Cable Wood Chop (Low to High)
This wood chop travels from a low pulley up and across your body, emphasizing upward rotational power through the obliques, core, and shoulders. The diagonal path links your legs, trunk, and arms into one coordinated chain. It's great for building functional, athletic power.
How to do it
- 1
Set the cable to its lowest setting and attach a rope handle.
- 2
Stand side-on to the machine with the pulley toward one hip.
- 3
Grab the rope with both hands, palms facing each other, and brace your core.
- 4
Drive up and across your body, pulling the cable diagonally to shoulder height on the far side.
- 5
Pause briefly at the top without letting the cable yank you back.
- 6
Return under control to the low start, finish your reps, then switch sides.
