ABDUCTORS

Standing Hip Circle

BeginnerBodyweight

A standing warm-up drill that loosens the hip flexors and abductors. Circling your hips takes the joint through a wide range and wakes up the muscles that surround it. It's ideal before heavier lower-body training or anything that demands hip mobility.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand with feet hip-width apart and place your hands on your hips for support.

  2. 2

Circle your hips as though you were keeping a hula hoop going around your waist.

  3. 3

Complete several circles in one direction.

  4. 4

Switch and circle your hips the other way for the same count.
