Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch
A static stretch that opens up the hip flexors, the muscles at the front of the hip that tighten from lots of sitting. Kneeling on one knee and pressing the hips forward reaches deep into them, easing stiffness and improving how far the hip can extend. Handy before lower-body work.
How to do it
- 1
Set up in a half-kneel with one knee on the floor and the other foot in front, both knees bent to about 90 degrees, hands on your hips.
- 2
Slowly ease your torso and hips forward until you feel a comfortable stretch across the front of the down-leg thigh.
- 3
Keep your torso upright and core gently engaged.
- 4
Hold for 15 to 30 seconds.
- 5
Switch sides and repeat.
