Wide Grip Lat Pulldown
This pulldown puts a wide bar in your hands to load the lats hard, with the biceps and upper back helping out. Setting your grip wider than your shoulders shifts the emphasis onto the outer lats, which is what builds that broad, tapered look and stronger overhead pulling. It's a reliable staple for anyone chasing back width and better posture.
How to do it
- 1
Clip a long wide bar to the high pulley and take an overhand grip well outside shoulder width.
- 2
Sit down and slide your thighs under the pads so your legs stay anchored.
- 3
Tighten your midsection and sit tall with a neutral spine.
- 4
Starting from full overhead extension, pull the bar down to the top of your chest by driving your elbows toward your ribs, leaning back only slightly.
- 5
Let the bar rise back up under control until your arms are fully straight, then repeat.
