V-Bar Pull Up

IntermediateBodyweight

The V-bar pull-up hooks a V-handle over the bar for a close, neutral grip that shifts emphasis toward the middle and lower lats. It also works the biceps and mid-back. The neutral grip can feel easier on the shoulders while still building solid back strength.

How to do it

  1. 1

Hang a V-bar over the pull-up bar and grip the handles with palms facing each other.

  2. 2

Brace your core by breathing into your belly and keeping your abs tight.

  3. 3

Pull your elbows down toward your ribs to raise your chest to the bar.

  4. 4

Near the top, lean your head slightly to one side to pull a bit higher.

  5. 5

Lower yourself back to a full hang under control, alternating the side you lean toward.
