Reverse Grip Barbell Bent Over Row

BeginnerBarbell

This bent-over row uses a barbell held palms-up, which brings the biceps into play more and recruits the back muscles a bit differently than an overhand row. The barbell keeps the movement stable so you can pour your effort into the pull instead of balancing the load. It's a solid builder for back thickness and pulling power.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand with feet about shoulder-width apart and grip the barbell underhand.

  2. 2

Hinge at the hips with knees slightly bent until your torso sits around 45 degrees and the bar hangs in front of your shins.

  3. 3

Keeping your spine neutral, pull the bar up toward your belly button by driving your elbows back past your torso.

  4. 4

Squeeze your back at the top for a moment.

  5. 5

Lower the bar under control to the start and repeat.
