Kettlebell Alternating Row

BeginnerKettlebell

This row works the back, shoulders and biceps while you swap sides every rep. Alternating gives each side a short breather and lets you focus fully on the working arm. Holding a kettlebell in each hand keeps you balanced, and it's a reliable builder of back size and strength.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent, a kettlebell in each hand at your sides, palms facing you.

  2. 2

Hinge at the hips to fold your torso forward, letting the kettlebells hang beneath your shoulders.

  3. 3

Row one kettlebell up by driving that elbow back, not by yanking the weight.

  4. 4

    Pause briefly at the top.

  5. 5

Lower it under control while keeping tension in your upper back.

  6. 6

Repeat on the other side and keep alternating, keeping your core braced and back flat.
