Foam Roll Lats
Foam rolling the lats is a self-massage technique for releasing tightness along the side of your back. Rolling the muscle out can ease soreness, help recovery, and open up your range of motion. It's a good addition to a warm-up or cool-down to keep the lats moving well.
How to do it
- 1
Lie on your side with the upper side of your ribcage resting on the roller and your bottom arm stretched overhead on the floor.
- 2
Bend your top leg to plant that foot, and bend your top arm to support yourself with that hand.
- 3
Slowly roll up toward the back of your armpit, hunting for tight or tender spots.
- 4
Pause and work any tight areas until they ease off.
- 5
Switch to the other side and repeat.
